( 二 ) 過去簡單式 (Past Simple)

1. 使用時機

(1) 過去的事實或狀態

My father was an engineer. 我父親之前是一位工程師。
There was an accident in my neighborhood yesterday.
昨天在我家附近發生了一場意外。

(2) 過去的動作

I studied English in my bedroom last night.
昨晚我在我的房間裡讀英文。

Julia visited her grandparents last Sunday.
上星期日茱莉亞拜訪了他的祖父母。

2. 動詞規則

(1) be 動詞

主 詞 be 動詞 例 句
第一人稱單數 was I was a teacher.
第二人稱單數 were You were tall.
第三人稱單數 was She was afraid of dogs.

複數 were My friends were at the party.
am/is 在過去式改為 was；are 在過去式改為 were。

(2) 一般動詞

沒有人稱之分，一律改成過去式動詞。
It cost me a lot of money to buy this car. 這部車花了我許多錢。

I watched TV at home yesterday evening. 昨晚我在家看電視。

字尾結尾為 e +d believed, loved
字尾子音 +y 去 y+ied carried, tried

短母音 + 子音 重複字尾 +ed stopped, dropped
