一 名詞子句的用法

句子裡的句子，稱之為「子句」。子句如果當名詞用，則稱為「名詞子句」。
既然是名詞，就可以把它：

1. 放在句首當主詞 2. 放在 be 動詞後面當補語 3. 放在動詞後面當受詞

例 • Do you know (that) I love you? 你知道我愛你嗎？
名詞子句當受詞用
• I don't know who you are. 我不知道你是誰。
名詞子句當受詞用
• What she said was totally a lie. 她說的話完全是個謊言。
名詞子句當主詞用
• That everyone will be rich is a joke. 大家發大財是個笑話。
名詞子句當主詞用
• Do you believe (that) everyone will be rich without hard work after the election?
名詞子句當受詞用
你相信選舉後大家不必努力就會發財嗎？

• I don't know (that) she is a spy. 我不知道她是間諜。
名詞子句當受詞用
• The truth is (that) I don't love you. 事實是我不愛你。
名詞子句當補語用

二 名詞子句的型式

1 直述句變成名詞子句。

方法：that 加句子（that ＋ S ＋ V）
例 • That he is a liar is known to everyone. （that 在句首不可省略）

他是個騙子（這件事）大家都知道。

• Everyone knows that he is a liar. 大家都知道他是個騙子。
＝ Everyone knows he is a liar.（that 在名詞子句當受詞時可省略）

• That the earth is getting hotter and hotter is a real crisis.（that 在句首不可省略）
地球愈來愈熱是真正的危機。

•The real crisis is that the earth is getting hotter and hotter. 真正的危機是地球愈來愈熱。
＝ The real crisis is the earth is getting hotter and hotter.

• Do you know that you are the best? 你知道你是最棒的嗎？
＝ Do you know you are the best?
